Information Services Senior Technician - Permanent
Location: Schumacher Board Office
Start date: November 10, 2025
Vacancy Details: 1.0 FTE (full-time, 35 hours/week)
Job Summary
The Information Services Senior Technician provides support and manages day to day operations of two data centers, wide and local area networks, wireless networks, core system servers, school based servers. In consultation with the Information Services Coordinator, school and board staff, the Technician contributes to the efficient support of information services, maintains network and server applications, and ensures the reliability and sustainability of information and communication resources.
Education/Experience Requirements
- Post secondary degree or diploma in computer studies or Computer Science
- Experience in a large enterprise IT environment
- Comp TIA A+ certification an asset
- CompTIA Network+ an asset
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals an asset
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Network Engineer Associate an asset
- Microsoft Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate an asset
Skill and Ability Requirements
- Ability to work to strict timelines – often under pressure
- Effective customer service and collaborative skills, including ability to work successfully in a team environment and independently.
- Demonstrate organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, including excellent attention to detail
- Knowledge of and experience in working with Microsoft software platforms and applications (ie. Azure, Windows Server, Windows Client and Office Suite, etc.)
- Knowledge of and experience in working with network communication protocols, network configuration and VMWare vSphere (Virtualization technologies) setup and support
- Knowledge of and experience working with Mobile Device Management Systems such as Microsoft Intune
- Experience in the installation and troubleshooting of networking hardware, including LAN cabling installation, WLAN, VoIP, switch, network printers (TCP/IP)
- Excellent written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision
