Reporting to the Director of Public Works, the successful candidate will: •

• Supervise all Public Works personnel including machine operators, mechanics and contractors; •
• Plan, organize, and coordinate maintenance and repair of public works infrastructure; •
• Plan, organize, and coordinate Public Works heavy equipment and vehicle fleet maintenance; •
• Plan, organize, and coordinate maintenance of all Public Works properties and storage facilities; • Responsible for the purchase of supplies, equipment and services; •
• Oversee and monitor certain construction projects; •
• Assist with the preparation of the Public Works operating and capital budgets; and •
• Assist with the long term planning for the Public Works department.

Required education and work experience: •

• Community College Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience; •
• Minimum three years of management experience, including experience in a senior management role •
• A strong understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and all applicable legislation pertaining to hours of work, minimum maintenance standards and roadsoperations policy and best practice; •
• Experience working in a municipal and/or unionized environment will be considered an asset.
