Marketing and Communication Specialist

Alzheimer Society Timmins-Porcupine District

Contract • Timmins Region

Salary Range: $40,000 - $60,000
30 Month CONTRACT
35 Hours per week


Reporting to the Executive Director, this role will update websites pages for the society, manage our websites and social media as well as keep the sites up to date and brand compliant. This position will work on events and other special projects as they arise, support the development of useful metrics for future planning and assist with social media posting and planning.
 

Responsibilities

Digital Marketing
Support the monitoring and evaluation of digital activity by

  • Tracking metrics and generating reports
  • Suggest strategy based on analytics
  • Manage social media accounts


Program Marketing

  • Create marketing and promotional materials for programs and events, including the creation of promotional fliers, postcards and manage online calendar of events
  • Update websites as needed
  • Monitor website and email testing for broken or misdirected links, missing tracking data, typos/content errors, rendering troubles, and other elements
  • Web updates in partnership with shared services
  • Maintain the website
  • Special web projects as they arise


Fund Development

  • Plan and implement fund development events; specifically the annual Walk for Alzheimer’s in partnership with the Director and other team members
  • Complete reports and tracking of event; revenue, expenses and other data
  • Participate in ongoing charity revenue events


Awareness

  • In partnership with the Education team, plan and implement public booths and venues for general information and awareness in the region
  • Promote January Awareness Month across the region using various platforms (all media, in person, booths, information walls, etc)
  • Support the team in writing internal and external communications
  • Write newsletter posts, social media messaging, and other marketing copy for print and digital collateral


Qualifications

Education:

  • Completion of a degree/diploma program in marketing / communications / public relations / digital media (or other similar areas of study) or equivalent education/experience.


Experience:

  • One to three years of online experience, including social media


Other Knowledge, Skills, Abilities or Certifications:

  • Proficiency in Creative software (CANVA, Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat Pro) and in desktop programs such as MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Experience using marketing and fundraising systems, e.g. Blackbaud, Luminate
  • Excellent working knowledge of social media channels and tools, e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram
  • Knowledge of basic HTML code, graphic design tools and techniques, image conversion and manipulation software, digital sound and video editing
  • Experience with website analysis using a variety of analytical tools as well as reporting tools e.g. Google Analytics and Google AdWords
  • Solid understanding of mobile applications related to social media
  • Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external clients
  • Professional presentation skills and demeanour
  • Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills
  • Demonstrated attention to detail
  • Ability to use discretion, judgment and tact in handling sensitive/confidential information/situations
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • Ability to be flexible and work effectively with others
  • Some travel through the districts is required- G license, access to a vehicle as required
  • Bilingual preferred
