JOB DESCRIPTION
Will drive truck and trailer to haul logs and/or float equipment in a safe and efficient manner to
designated company locations
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•
Applies knowledge of commercial driving and skill in maneuvering vehicle at varying
speeds in difficult situations such as inclement weather, or in tight loading/unloading
areas off highway and private dirt roads
•
Abides by all company, DOT, Provincial and Federal transportation safety regulations
•
Ensures load is properly secured and weight is evenly distributed on truck and trailer.
Checks binders and wrappers to ensure load is secure
•
Inspects tractor, trailer and equipment for defects and safe operating condition pre and
post trips as applicable. Also, when stopped during the workday
•
Submits driver’s daily vehicle inspection report, no later than the end of each day
•
Perform basic preventative maintenance to ensure fluid levels and tire pressures are
maintained
• Maintains records required for compliance with Provincial and Federal regulations
including driver’s logs, records of fuel purchases, mileage records and other records
required by law, or by company standards
• Ensures that all shipping documentation (bills of lading, weight tickets etc.) required to
move with shipment are available for inspection

Reports all accidents/incidents involving driver or company equipment immediately to
Supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
•
Completed truck driving school with a minimum of one year experience; or a minimum of
three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education
and experience
•
Class AZ Drivers License
•
MOT Drivers Abstract and Insurance Abstract
•
Negative results for Fit to Work Test (company will register for test)
•
Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance
instructions, and procedure or legal manuals
